Junction Visibility Splays

These standards specify the clear, unobstructed areas required at junctions to allow drivers to see approaching traffic.

A visibility splay is a triangular area at a junction where no obstructions (like buildings, fences, or overgrown vegetation) are permitted. This ensures drivers emerging from or turning into a junction have a clear view of traffic on the main road, enhancing safety and reducing the risk of collisions. The size of the splay depends on the design speed of the main road and the type of junction.
