What these numbers are, and are not
These are resident-population rates: deaths divided by a fixed 2022 population, divided by six years, per 100,000. They are not a measure of an individual's driving risk, of traffic volume, of vehicle-kilometres or of through-traffic, and they do not establish why outcomes differed between areas. RSA collision data for 2022 onward is provisional.
The family's position: Bronagh's family believes a district with this record, and a Council that receives it, should analyse its own road deaths at district level and publish the road-by-road reasons for its speed-limit and repair decisions. That is presented as the family's position, not as a finding about any member's knowledge, motive, responsibility or causation.
